Created Gallery
On the A619, to the west of Chesterfield| town centre in the specialist shopping area of Chatsworth Road|, you will find Created Gallery. Opened in 2008, the gallery is owned by the Gage family who are passionate about British craftsmanship and skilled makers themselves. Dominic Gage is a potter making traditional handthrown cups and bowls whilst Deirdre Gage is a textile artist specialising in feltmaking. Daughter Clare Gage is an award winning ceramicist with a studio nearby where she makes her textile inspired ceramics. It is the family’s first hand knowledge of crafts that makes Created Gallery special to its customers.
Created has been described as a treasure trove of craft and having something for everyone who loves the Handmade. The family select their artists from the UK only and particularly Derbyshire. “We feel passionate about supporting British craft” says Deirdre Gage, “and hope that Created provides the best environment for our customers to buy work that is created – not just made.”
The atmosphere in Created is warm, relaxed and friendly with customers welcome to browse or chat to whichever Gage is behind the counter that day. On the ground floor is the main shop area with the Gallery Upstairs offering a changing programme of exhibitions.
Customer parking is to the rear of the building and Chatsworth Road has good public transport links with Chesterfield town centre.
