We’re developing a winning partnership.
In October 2010, the arvato Partnership signed a 10-year public-private partnership agreement with Chesterfield Borough Council to provide a range of finance, customer, information and property services to the citizens and businesses of Chesterfield|. In a short space of time, the partnership has made a positive difference to the lives of Chesterfield residents |and created a strong impression on the local and national scene.
Finding ideal partners
The Council agreed the public-private partnership to take advantage of arvato’s track record of delivering excellent services, while making financial savings and protecting jobs. Our core values of partnership, entrepreneurship, creativity and citizenship also fitted perfectly with the Council’s forward-thinking, collaborative ethos.
Over the lifetime of the partnership, we have committed to transforming local services and creating more than £4 million in cost savings. We will also be investing £1.7 million in new technology and infrastructure, and developing a modern customer service centre to improve access to services. As part of the agreement, more than 200 Council staff transferred to the partnership (170 to arvato, 34 to Kier), all on their current terms and conditions.
Realising quick successes
Our new partnership has already achieved a great deal. We managed the transfer of services from the Council to the partnership with no disruption to the people of the borough. We’ve established excellent working relationships with the Council at all levels. We’re scoring very high customer satisfaction ratings among local residents. arvato and Kier have both joined ‘Destination Chesterfield’| and Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, and we’re backing the borough’s 100-in-100 apprenticeship campaign|. Also we were recently confirmed as the main partner and sponsor of Chesterfield’s 2011 Arts & Market Festival|.
Making a name for ourselves
We’re receiving national recognition too – in the 2011 Government Business Awards, the Council was commended for its innovative public-private partnership. We also secured additional business from neighbouring Derby City Council to work on a benefits project.
