Fairplay
‘Fairplay is a local children’s charity that supports children and young people with disabilities and their families across North Derbyshire. Fairplay offers support to children aged 0-25 with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities. Fairplay’s services are tailored to meet the needs of families and include holiday play schemes, youth clubs, residential breaks, independent living groups and parent support groups. In conjunction with the Primary Care Trust and a specialist Community Children’s Nurse, Fairplay provides a home based support service for children with complex health care needs that may be life-threatening or life-limiting. Fairplay supports over 400 families across the area.
Fairplay’s services offer families the support that they need and give them opportunities to take part in positive experiences that make a real difference to their lives. They enable parents to have valuable respite from 24 hour care and give children and young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of life skills.
Fairplay offers services from its purpose built centre in Chesterfield and also from outreach venues in North East Derbyshire, Bolsover, High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. The Fairplay Centre in Chesterfield offers unique specialist facilities including a Changing Places Toilet and sensory room. The centre also has excellent rooms for hire for events and conferences.
Chesterfield is a great place to live and work as it has a great sense of community spirit and a strong voluntary sector that meets local people’s needs. Fairplay has become a community champion to promote Chesterfield and to ensure that the huge impact the voluntary sector has is recognised and celebrated.’
