Chesterfield and District Crematorium open day and Service of Remembrance

Crematorium

Chesterfield and District Crematorium, managed by a joint committee on behalf of Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council, are set to host their annual open day service of remembrance – offering local people the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the crematorium.

Staff at the crematorium will be on hand to answer questions visitors may have about cremations, burials or funeral services.

There will be the opportunity for people to:

  • Trace the final resting place of a loved one or ancestor
  • Discuss the options available for the disposal of cremated remains
  • Find out more about memorial schemes available at the crematorium to commemorate a loved one.

The open day will be followed by a service of remembrance at 12.30pm which is open to all to remember a loved one or friend.   During the service the tribute screens will be used to display photos of your loved ones. If you would like a photo to be displayed, please email it to bereavement.services@chesterfield.gov.uk

Behind the scenes tours will take place at 10.00am, 10.30am, 11.00am and 11.30am (maximum of 20 people per group). Contact the Crematorium to book your place.

Visitors can also look around the crematorium grounds, which hold a Green Flag award, given to the country’s top green and open spaces.
