Chamber Scoops Another Top Business Award
The Chamber was named Midlands Business Club of the Year at the prestigious Midlands Business Awards 2012 at a ceremony held on Friday 3 February at the NEC Hilton Metropole Hotel.
It caps off a successful year for the organisation, which also scooped the Chamber of the Year and Excellence in Membership Services awards at the national Chamber Awards 2011.
The Chamber won its latest accolade for its efforts to promote business opportunities across and outside the two counties that its members represent.
Chamber President Ian Greenaway and Chief Executive George Cowcher received their award from Carol Undy, from the Federation of Small Businesses, which sponsored the award.
Mr Cowcher said: "We are delighted to have received official recognition of the important role that the Chamber plays in promoting and finding real opportunities for the businesses of all shapes and sizes operating within both counties.
“All of its members of staff deserve recognition for their role in helping win this prize and it is a tribute to their hard work and dedication in trying economic times."
Two Chamber members also came away with awards on the night. Newark business Hall-Fast was named the Midlands Exporter of the Year, while renewable energy installer Evo Energy of Nottingham was commended in the Midlands Service Provider of the Year category. And member Thornbridge Brewery, based in Bakewell, near Derbyshire, was highly commended in the Midlands Innovation of the Year category.
Harj Sandher, Managing Director of Leamington Spa-based UK Special Events, which organised the awards, said: "We are delighted with the quality of the entrants this year and very pleased for the Chamber, the Hall-Fast team and for Evo Energy."
