Huge demand for Wembley tickets
Chesterfield Football Club sold over 5,000 tickets on the first day of sale and 11,000 by Friday 5th March for their appearance in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Peterborough United.
Staff in the Ticket Office and Club Superstore at the Proact Stadium were kept busy all day as season ticket holders queued from first thing in the morning with five terminals in operation.
Tickets were also sold via the club's online ticketing system and over the phone with fans eager to secure their place at Wembley on Sunday, March 30.
Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner paid tribute to the hard-working staff who ensured that the opening day of ticket sales was a success.
"The staff worked tirelessly to ensure that fans were dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible," he said. "We are delighted to have sold so many tickets in a single day.
"Credit must go to Ticket Office manager Karen Wood for organising everything. I'd like to say a big 'well done' to Karen and her colleagues for doing a superb job."
Ticket sales to season ticket holders are still available and tickets go on general sale on Tuesday.
Fans are reminded that they can avoid queuing by using the club's online ticketing system. This is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so it is possible to purchase tickets even when the Ticket Office is closed.
