New grant scheme for Chesterfield sport clubs launched
Sport clubs in Chesterfield can now take advantage of a new grants scheme. The ‘Clubs for All Grants’ programme, launched this week by Chesterfield Borough Council, offers grants of £1,000 to not for profit sport clubs or groups to develop new or existing activities which aim to increase participation in sport.
Councillor Nick Stringer, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Chesterfield Borough Council said: “We’re particularly looking to offer grants to sports clubs or groups to develop activities for people with low participation rates, including the disabled, women, and ethnic minorities.”
Funding can be made available for items such as specialist equipment, coaching costs, promotional costs, coach education, and venue hire.
The application process runs until the 8th June with funding available from 29th June. There will be just one funding round with 8 grants of £1000 available. The maximum grant awarded to any club through this programme is £1,000. Four of the £1000 grants have been reserved for projects extending the provision for disability sport.
Councillor Sharon Blank from Chesterfield Borough Council said: “We're really pleased to be able to offer this grant to local clubs and groups and we're confident it will make a positive change in the community, promoting healthy and active lifestyles for all.”
