New hospital facility to create 88 jobs
A specialist hospital facility at Mastin Moor in Chesterfield is set to create 88 new jobs. The new facility, run by the health and social care organisation Turning Point, provides services for people with complex needs. As part of the planning permission for the development, an agreement was put in place to maximise the employment and training opportunities for local people.
Chesterfield Borough Council has worked alongside Turning Point, Jobcentre Plus and Chesterfield College to ensure local people can apply for the jobs and training opportunities coming forward.
Cllr John Burrows, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “This is a positive and welcome start to the year and we’re pleased to be working with Turning Point on this new development.
“We’re obviously keen that any new development in the Borough looks to employ local people as it’s vital for our economy and future growth.”
Janine Strange, Regional Manager for Turning Point said: “This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in beginning a career in social care to get on the job training. We are also working closely with Chesterfield College, the Council and Jobcentre Plus to fill other positions such as kitchen and admin staff and we will soon be advertising nursing and support worker positions, so whatever people’s skills or ambitions are, there’s a good chance they’ll find a suitable role with us.”
Two open days have been organised for 6th February at Chesterfield Winding Wheel and 8th February at Staveley Speedwell Rooms, both open days start at 10.30am until approximately 12.30pm. Chesterfield Jobcentre Plus has also set up a recruitment hotline for the development and anyone interested can telephone 01246 343191 for information on the job vacancies available.
