Ashgate Hospice
Ashgate Hospice provides compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care to patients with a life-limiting illness and their families across North Derbyshire.
The charity’s vision is for people with a life-limiting illness to be able to live well and to have a good death –well informed and supported – and for their loved ones to be well supported and comforted too.
For patients with the most complex needs, they have an Inpatient Unit. However, most of their patients are cared for at home by their team of specialist nurses, specialist therapists and healthcare professionals. This enables them to stay where they feel most comfortable for as long as possible.
All of the care and support it provides is free-of-charge. However, it is not an NHS hospice, and to ensure Ashgate can continue providing the care it does when people need it most, it needs to raise money through fundraising and retail income.
Peter Stone, Director of Income Generation at the hospice, said: “It’s an absolute honour for Ashgate Hospice to be a Chesterfield Champion. Whilst we provide care right across North Derbyshire, the hospice itself is situated in Chesterfield.
“Ashgate Hospice has more 300 employees and over 600 volunteers across a range of sectors, including nursing, fundraising, finance and retail, and we’re proud to be contributing to employment and the local economy.
“Chesterfield has a fantastic community, and because we want to be here to support that community, it’s important for us to be behind the opportunities that Chesterfield has and engage with local people.”
