NLT Training Services
NLT Training Services has delivered apprenticeship programmes in engineering & manufacturing for over 30 years to young people across the East Midlands region. The firm is a not-for-profit Group Training Association (GTA) operating as a registered charity.
Based in Brimington in Chesterfield, NLT was formed by engineering experts to be a provider that offered an ‘industry training industry’ ethos. Due to the changes in education over the years, the firm has diversified into helping people back into work and developing employability programmes for young people straight from school.
A representative from NLT says:-
“We work closely with local engineering and manufacturing companies to service all of their training and apprenticeship needs and we partner with schools across Derbyshire to make a positive difference to young people’s lives.
“We’re pleased to support the annual Made in Chesterfield Festival and take part by offering a hands-on experience in which students can manufacture a product to take home.
“We’ve also developed a careers roadshow entitled STEER (Schools Engineering & Educational Roadshow) which is a free event for schools and takes out table top engineering equipment such as 3D printers and welding simulators to engage and enthuse students about this fast growing sector.
“With regards to strategy, we have aligned our business with the priorities of D2N2 and see substantial growth in the next 5 years alongside the rising industry in our town. With commerce growing at such a fast rate in areas like Markham Vale, our business needs to continue to develop and produce quality apprentices to help alleviate the issue of our region’s ageing workforce.
“I would always recommend Chesterfield as a location for anyone wishing to establish a business. The town is a growing industry for many sectors which is attracting business opportunities galore for micro to small business, coupled with the information, advice and guidance on offer from organisations such as D2N2 and the East Midlands Chamber, Derbyshire is certainly growing to be the hub of industry activity.”
