70th Anniversary Play Season: How the Other Half Loves
Part of a season of seven plays to celebrate 70 years of the Pomegranate Theatre as a civic theatre.
Three couples, two dinner parties, one affair… Frank and Fiona are well-off, while Frank’s employee Bob and his wife Teresa are not, but Fiona is having an affair with Bob. When the two couples each invite another work colleague, William and his wife Mary, to dinner on consecutive evenings, we watch as the dinner parties play out simultaneously, with the hapless William and Mary caught hysterically between the warring twosomes. As Fiona and Bob desperately try to cover up their infidelity, accusations fly and tempers flare.
How the Other Half Loves is a fast-paced farce full of misunderstandings and mayhem. It is the play that secured Alan Ayckbourn’s place as one of Britain’s best-loved playwrights. Ayckbourn has written over 80 plays, scooping both Tony Awards and Olivier Awards for his work.
