Essential Digital Skills
Course Overview
D2N2 Digital Skills Academy is a free, innovative programme set up exclusively to help autistic individuals and women, particularly those who are returning to work after a period of absence, those out of work, and those looking for another role or to progress within their own organisation.
Digital is increasingly being used as a primary route for engagement and activity across business. It is crucial that we all have the digital skills needed for both life and work. Without these skills we will be at a significant disadvantage within the workplace.
Key training course outcomes
- Gain confidence in the use of digital devices and resources
- Gain an understanding of popular business software applications
- Register on and manage online accounts
- Understand how to stay safe online
These four evening sessions have been developed to help individuals obtain essential digital skills in order to apply for or enhance their career. The sessions can be accessed as a whole, or on an identified needs basis.
Evening 1: Foundation Digital Skills
Evening 2: Handling information & content
Evening 3: Using Applications to create content and solve problems
Evening 4: Collaborating and sharing information on professional networks
About the scheme
The D2N2 Digital Skills Academy supports both autistic individuals and women that want to get back into work or progress into digital roles. The programme aims to help them gain the digital skills they need to find a job they’ll thrive in.
The key delivery partners include Autism East Midlands, D2N2 LEP, East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), Nottingham City Council, the University of Derby, Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham.
What support is available?
Not only will delegates learn new digital skills, they’ll also receive support from a graduate digital buddy, who’ll help build their confidence and offer one-to-one guidance in a safe environment.
Work experience opportunities may also be a possibility for delegates once they’ve completed their course, further enhancing their employability prospects.
Applicants
Each course requires every participant to have a minimum level of digital skills and experience to ensure that the training course is right for them. Desired skills include a competency and thorough understanding of computer systems, and applications, be familiar with file management, word processing systems, and have excellent written and verbal skills.
