Mock Tribunal and Employment Law Update
To help all parties understand what is involved with the Tribunal process BRM Solicitors will be delivering and interactive mock tribunal where attendees will hear a case of unfair dismissal, which will also include investigations and highlight procedural flaws.
Data released by the Ministry of Justice in March 2018 has shown that single claims lodged at employment tribunals have increased by a remarkable 90 per cent between October to December 2017 compared to the same quarter in 2016.
The figures followed a 64% rise in new claims brought to employment tribunals after fees were first abolished following a Supreme Court judgment in July 2017 that overruled the government’s fee system.
With the abolition of employment tribunal fees, the rise of Employment Tribunal claims against employers have soared as there is no longer a disincentive for employees to bring claims, even if the claims are weak with limited prospects of success.
