StraightCurves have a range of different workshops this Christmas time including needle felted polar bear, jumpingCLAY decorations, mixed media tags, papercut greetings cards, crocheted mistletoe and much more!
Needle felted polar bear
A fun festive workshop, make needle-felted polar bears from local Peak District wool from a farm in Derbyshire. Your finished model will make an ideal Christmas decoration!
JumpingCLAY modelling
These sessions are for adults to get to grips with JumpingCLAY Modelling and the content will vary depending on the theme you are booking for. You will learn all the skills you need to create the model or item and all materials are provided during the session.
Mixed media tags
This workshop looks at taking everyday items from around the home such as old packaging and bottle tops and recycling them to create gorgeous and inexpensive mixed media tags. They make a lovely gift or can simply be used as a piece of art to hang on your wall. Each tag is individual and unique. You will be guided step by step in creating these stunning mini works of art!
Needle felted owl or robin
Make a felted owl or robin in this one off workshop. Needle-felting (sometimes called dry felting), is a technique of felting wool fibres with the aid of special barbed needles. It’s a great way to create 3D sculptures. In this class, you can make your very own needle felted owl or robin.
Needle felted elf
Create a needle felted elf using wool fibres! The decoration can be a standing ornament for a mantel piece or shelf, or you can add a loop to make a Christmas tree decoration!
Paper cutting – greeting cards
This workshop is a perfect chance to try a new skill while making greetings cards. There will be several designs to choose from, one which you will complete in the class and you will take the other two home to practise the skills you learn.
Crocheted mistletoe
Come along and make your very own sustainable mistletoe to decorate your home year after year. This crochet workshop uses Stylecraft Naturals 100% organic cotton so you can practice using cotton and improve your crochet skills at the same time. The pattern is included in the workshop so you can take it home and make more for gifts.

Mixed media decorations
May your days be merry and bright with these lovely mixed media decorations. Perfect for the christmas tree or as a beautiful gift to a loved one. Using a mix of materials these decorations are both beautiful and fun to make. They’ll look lovely hanging on your christmas tree or give them as a gift to friends and family.
Festive knitted decorations
Come along to this 2 session course to learn how to make your own festive knitted decorations. During the course you will choose from our knitting patterns for a Santa, elf or snowman and work on making your decoration with your lovely tutor. This is a great course to get back into knitting if you have been on the beginners’ course some time ago or are self-taught but feeling a little out of your depth with patterns.
