Kier Asset Management
In October 2010 Kier Asset Management, working in partnership with arvato, took over the delivery of Chesterfield Borough Council’s asset management, engineering and facilities management services. This exciting and innovative ten year partnership is delivering an improved service including efficiencies and cost savings to Chesterfield Borough Council. Priorities for the partnership are high standards of customer service, the retention of jobs in Chesterfield and investment to regenerate infrastructure and skills. The partnership will deliver savings of over £4 million during the life time of the contract, which will bring efficiencies to Chesterfield Borough Council services at a time when all councils are under pressure to make savings and cut budgets.
The partnership arrangement with the Council forms part of the growth strategies of both arvato and Kier Asset Management. Kier Asset Management also delivers property and soft FM services for Sheffield City Council. A Kier spokesman stated “The long-term nature of the partnership will allow us to invest in developing the service to generate real efficiency savings to the Council and improve the management of public buildings.”
A total of 34 former Council staff were transferred to Kier in October 2010 and remain within Chesterfield Town Hall.
Kier Asset Management decided to become a Chesterfield Champion after being impressed by the highly regarded businesses that had already joined the scheme. Kier believes that Chesterfield is standing out from the crowd in terms of regeneration and attracting investment. Kier’s first Chesterfield office based at Chesterfield Town Hall opened in October 2010 and the Chesterfield Champions Scheme has been a great source of raising awareness among Chesterfield’s business community that the global company is now active in the town.
