Online careers programme launched by Derbyshire Education Business Partnership

Derbyshire Education Business Partnership (DEBP) have launched a new online careers programme, Directions, which aims to support young people at home due to the impact of COVID-19.

The programme – available to young people in secondary schools and special educational needs or disability schools, includes access to careers advice, employer workshops and study resources.

DEBP are offering one-to-one information, advice and guidance, as well as group activities covering applications, apprenticeships, employability, resilience, transition and stress management. The team are also are working closely with local employers to offer Q&A’s, video diaries, networking and virtual visits to help ensure young people are developing the skills employers’ value and look for.

SHAPE Learning Partnership

SHAPE Learning Partnership are the official, Government funded School Games Organisers for Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire and run one of the largest not for profit school sports partnerships in Derbyshire. They aim to promote daily physical activity for all ages during this difficult period and encourage fun physical challenges this through various platforms that will support teachers, parents, children and young people to stay well, both physically and mentally.

Maths Tutor Chesterfield

Maths Tutor Chesterfield have put together a range of free Maths resources for Secondary School children including worksheets to help consolidate and practise skills that have been written and used in the classroom by an experienced Maths teacher. Answers and solutions also available, so that you can check your work!

National Computing Center for Education

The National Computing Center for Education can offer all state funded schools free support for remote learning on platforms such as teams, Google Classroom and Seesaw. There are also computing online courses that anyone can do for free.

The Center also offer computing face to face courses that had a bursary attached to them, which are now to remote courses. Schools get £220 per day for the first course and there area a range of different bursaries available for secondaries.

Juniper Training – Virtual Open Days

proMUA & Beauty Training

proMUA & Beauty Training, based on Stephenson Place in Chesterfield town centre, have partnered with Life Skills to bring fully funded ‘free’ VTCT Level 2 Beauty Therapy, Make up and Complementary Therapy courses.

The Government funded courses are Free To anyone 16 or over who has found themselves distanced from the workplace. This may be due to having recently been made redundant or may have been unemployed and outwork of for a while, or simply may have left school, college or university and not found a job yet. The courses are ready for immediate start online. As soon as the centre is able to re-open and it is safe to return to the training centre in Chesterfield, it will continue one day per week.
