The Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre know things aren’t ‘normal’ at the moment, it can be difficult staying at home all the time and they want to help. Here are some activities for to keep the kids (and you!) entertained!

Chesterfield Museum has launched a range of free online activities to help educate and entertain you and your family, without having to leave the house.

From craft ideas and experiments you can do at home, to quizzes and poetry, there’s something for everyone to get involved in.

Active Derbyshire – Activity packs

Find fun activity packs each week to keep the kids active – from football to golf.

Each week you will find a schedule of suggested challenges and daily activity cards from The School Games Organiser Network and Active Derbyshire.  You do not have to do them in the suggested order and if you really enjoy one of the days, there is nothing stopping you doing that activity every day!

Vicar Lane Shopping Centre – Activity Packs

Vicar Lane wanted to help find ways to say ‘thank you’ to some of the amazing community heroes who are working hard at this time to help others and provide households with vital services. Click on the link below to download some free colouring templates for children to enjoy and display at home.

Movers & Shakers

Movers & Shakers is a music class for babies, toddlers and preschoolers to do with a parent, carer or guardian – Music and movement are an essential part of early years development and education.

Due to the current situation, they are now providing an online class video that you can do at home and can view as many time as you like through the week! They will focus on a different theme each week and provide a familiar structure to each class: singing with actions, dance/movement and instruments/rhythm making.

SHAPE Learning Partnership

SHAPE Learning Partnership are the official, Government funded School Games Organisers for Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire and run one of the largest not for profit school sports partnerships in Derbyshire. They aim to promote daily physical activity for all ages during this difficult period and encourage fun physical challenges this through various platforms that will support teachers, parents, children and young people to stay well, both physically and mentally.

Quarantine Cuisine presented by Edge Events Management Ltd

Foodies are invited to share their favourite recipes with members of new Facebook group, Quarantine Cuisine.  There are plenty of interesting cuisines from around the world to try and recipes are designed to be cooked at home easily.

Red Dog Studios Chesterfield

Red Dog Studios are a local Music Studio, based in Old Whittington. Run by Mike Bateson, the studio is temporarily closed but includes a well equipped rehearsal space and a full recording studio. They now offer professional music tuition via Zoom – all their tutors are DBS checked and accredited by ABRSM, with years of experience and tailoring lessons to pupils needs on Guitar, Drums, Bass and many more.
