Spireites’ Sports Club
After a great season on the pitch for Chesterfield FC and seeing the England team inspire us all in the European Championships, this summer is a great time to get your youngsters playing the beautiful game. Luckily, Chesterfield FC Community Trust is on hand to give coaching sessions to kids of all ages and abilities in the area.
Year of Outdoors events
Chesterfield Borough Council has organised a wide range of events for all abilities and ages, aimed at getting people active in the town’s fabulous outdoor spaces. Want to get closer to nature? Maybe you want to meet new people? Or you just want to have a steady stroll and some fresh air… Make sure you head over to our events page and get booked onto one or more of the great activities on offer.
The Great British Food Festival
Indulge in a weekend of foodie heaven at Hardwick when The Great British Food Festival heads to the historic house this Summer! Along with wonderful food and drink there will be chef demos, competitions, artisan talks, games and activities for the kids, and excellent live music. Taking place 30th July – 1st August 2021.
An Evening With Queen at Queen’s Park
Get your air guitars at the ready, as A night of legendary music is set to take over one of the most picturesque settings in Derbyshire! A dazzling collection of performers from London’s West End, including former stars from the smash hit musical ‘We Will Rock You’, come together in the height of summer to present an incredible tribute to one of the world’s great rock bands. Don’t miss it!
The Plastic Free Festival
Enjoy a day of fun, food and environmentally-friendly shopping at the Plastic Free Festival, taking place in New Square this August. Featuring great entertainment from local poets and dancers, along with a range of information stalls giving you advice on how you can do your bit to reduce plastic consumption in your home and the wider community. Remember to take your own containers, cups, bottles and bags!
Chatsworth Outdoor Cinema
There can’t be many better ways to unwind than to sit back with a drink and some popcorn, enjoying a classic movie in one of Derbyshire’s most idyllic settings; the famous grounds of Chatsworth House. Book your place under the big screen and take advantage of a full bar and great food, both available via a click and collect service.
Chesterfield Pride is back for 2021, promising to be one of the biggest LGBTQ+ events in the region. The event at Stand Road Park once again features an all-star lineup including Big Brovaz, Booty Luv, Kelly Wilde and Black Lace. The celebration takes place on August 22nd.
Peak District Highland Games
Head over to Matlock Farm Park for this brilliant family-friendly event… Alongside the usual attractions including a whole host of farm animals and the UK’s largest jumping pillow, the Park will have the super strong competitors flexing their muscles in a battle to win various competitions. Events on the day include the caber toss, eight-tonne tractor pull and the massive stone carry!
Visit Chesterfield Escape Rooms
Have you played a game at Chesterfield Escape Rooms yet? Chesterfield’s newest visitor attraction has three mind-boggling puzzles to pick from, ensuring you, your family and friends have a great day out! You can try to ‘Rob the Bank,’ Escape from the ‘Crazy Cat Lady’ or break out of jail in ‘The Governor.’ Try to escape before the time runs out!
