Our Chesterfield Champions are continuing to gain recognition for their contribution to skills, innovation and enterprise, securing honours at regional, national and international levels, and highlighting the strength and diversity across sectors including education, engineering and the creative industries.

Chesterfield College Group celebrates national accountancy award win

Chesterfield College Group has once again secured national recognition for the second consecutive year, winning Medium Provider of the Year at the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Accounting Awards.

The award highlights the continued success of the college’s accountancy training provision, which has expanded to meet growing demand from employers and learners across our region. Its flexible delivery model and strong links with industry have helped position the college as a leading provider of AAT training.

This latest accolade reflects both the quality of teaching and the college’s ongoing commitment to supporting skills development within the local economy.

Rhys Robinson, Director of Learning for Engineering, Digital and Services to Business, explains:

“To be awarded another national accolade really does drive home the strength and depth of our AAT/Accounting training. We’re quickly becoming THE training provider of choice across the region, and that’s simply down to the quality, dedication and care of our wonderful tutors. I can’t praise them highly enough.

To now be offering AAT/Accounting training both in Chesterfield and in Derby shows the demand for the training in businesses across any industry, and we’re proud to offer solutions that work flexibly enough to any business/individual need. Here’s hoping that, given a few more years of growth, we’ll be in the running for large provider of the year!”

Heavy Weather gains international design recognition

Chesterfield-based design studio Heavy Weather has received a Gold Award for Integrated Graphic Design at the Indigo Awards 2026 for its work on Repeater, a Sheffield-based curatorial music and arts series.

The project brings together experimental sound and visual culture, with Heavy Weather developing a distinctive design system that evolves over time. The approach allows the campaign to respond to each event while maintaining a consistent identity, supporting both audience engagement and long-term storytelling.

By combining creative strategy with flexible visual design, the project demonstrates how branding can play a central role in shaping cultural experiences. The recognition further strengthens the profile of Chesterfield’s creative sector, with local talent continuing to gain international attention.

Phil McDonald, founder of Heavy Weather, said: “The design system builds an ongoing world around sound. The campaign was designed to archive itself, mutate and evolve over time.”
