Chesterfield Pantomime – Jack and the Beanstalk

Climb into a world of festive fun this Christmas with this year’s Chesterfield Pantomime – Jack and the Beanstalk. The magical pantomime is coming to the Winding Wheel Theatre this December, and it’s a towering tale your whole family will love.

What to expect

When Jack swaps his beloved cow for a bag of beans, things take a surprising twist, and a mighty beanstalk launches him into an epic adventure.

This year, expect a sky-high journey full of daring heroes, larger-than-life characters, and plenty of panto magic.

Jamie Christian, aka the duelling Giant from the hit BBC TV Saturday night show Gladiators, will lead the cast in our family panto at the Winding Wheel Theatre this year as The Giant!

Jamie will be joined by comedian Patrick Monahan as Simon Trott, magician Nicholas Lee as Fleshcreep, Rachel O’Hare as the Spirit of Cloudland! John Lyons (A Touch of Frost) as King Crumble, Simon Howe as Dame Trott and Lewis Burrage as Jack. Further support casting is still to be announced.

With a brilliant cast, colourful costumes and just the right amount of silliness, this year’s production promises festive cheer by the bucketload. From cheeky jokes to sing-along songs, there’s something for everyone – and yes, there’ll be boos, cheers and “He’s behind yous!” aplenty.

Please note that the performance may contain haze, low fog, smoke, flashing lights, loud noises, pyrotechnical charges and effects.

A relaxed performance and is adapted for those with learning disabilities and other sensory and communication needs. Relaxed performances are also a great way to introduce little ones to panto. We make small adjustments to the technical aspects of the show so it is a gentler experience. The volume is slightly lower and some special effects such as strobe lighting are removed. The production may still contain haze, some use of low fog and some lighting effects. To provide a more relaxed and supportive atmosphere, the house lights remain partially lit and the doors to the auditorium remain open. Safe spaces are made available in other areas of the venue for those who may want to take a break from the performance.
