Santa’s elves have been very busy at Matlock Farm Park this season, with three special Christmas events taking place. Santa’s Grotto Experience, Relaxed Santa Experience and Breakfast with Santa will bring Christmas magic to the park across November and December.
The park will also be transformed into a winter wonderland, with festive pony rides, carol singing, brass band music, Christmas treasure trails and market stalls, plus, of course, all the animal and playtime fun of the farm, too!
Santa’s Grotto Experience
The grotto experience begins in the enchanting Christmas Craft Workshop. Meet Chief Elf, write a letter to Santa and post it in the magical North Pole Post Box, before creating a beautiful keepsake to take home. Next, have a go on the fun-filled Naughty or Nice-O-Meter, to discover whether you’ve made it onto the Naughty or Nice list this year!
Your journey continues through the sparkling Ice Tunnel into Santa’s enchanting grotto. Meet Santa, share Christmas wishes, capture treasured memories and receive a special gift from the festive man himself.

Relaxed Santa Experience
The Relaxed Santa Experience offers a tailored session for those with additional needs, such as Autism. With each experience uniquely tailored to each individual’s needs, these sessions offer extra time, a peaceful environment and a personalised approach, for children and young people who benefit from a calmer setting.
On arrival, you’ll be able to familiarise yourself with the area, and receive a picture timeline storyboard for the experience. Before meeting Santa, you’ll have the chance for a special one-to-one small animal petting session, then greet Santa in either his low-lit grotto or outside. Santa can sit at a distance or on the floor if preferred, then choose a gift of choice, with sensory items available. Following the visit, enjoy the sensory transition room to provide a calm, safe and inviting atmosphere.

Breakfast with Santa
Start the day with a group welcome from Santa before tucking in to a delicious breakfast served in the Garden Room Cafe. The Big Man in Red will visit your table during breakfast, having a chat with your family about their special Christmas wishes and gifting children a special present labelled with their name.
Following breakfast, join Mary Christmas for story time, to discover more about the Christmas reindeer and receive a bag of magical reindeer food to sprinkle at home on Christmas Eve.
Children can enjoy their choice of pancakes with fruit and syrup, beans on toast or a mini full English. Adults will receive a bacon, sausage, egg and hash brown breakfast cob, or vegetarian alternative, with refillable tea or coffee. Specific dietary requirements can be catered for.
