Chesterfield Champions announce senior appointments and leadership changes
Three Chesterfield Champions have announced significant leadership changes and appointments this month, reflecting continued growth across legal services, global manufacturing and voluntary sector support in our town and the wider region.
BRM expands real estate team with new appointment and promotion
Chesterfield law firm BRM has strengthened its real estate team with the appointment of Joseph Duffy and the promotion of Mario Esposito, supporting continued growth across the business.
Joseph has joined BRM as a solicitor specialising in commercial property, while Mario has been promoted to associate solicitor, marking his second promotion in four years.
Joseph previously worked at Sheffield Crown Court before joining a law firm as a paralegal in construction and engineering, including a secondment at Lloyds Banking Group. He later qualified as a solicitor at another Sheffield firm, gaining experience across litigation, insolvency, corporate and commercial property.
Claire Mayfield‑Tulip, Director and Head of Operations – Real Estate, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Joseph Duffy to BRM, with his recruitment demonstrating our continued growth and investment in the Sheffield and wider legal market.
“His appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in junior lawyers so we can develop great talent now and for the future.”
Mario joined BRM in November 2022 after qualifying at Knights PLC. Since then, he has progressed from solicitor to senior solicitor, and now to associate solicitor. His experience spans secured lending, sales, purchases, auctions and landlord and tenant work.
Adrian Sheehan, Executive Director and Head of Real Estate at BRM, added:
“We place great value on the continual development of our solicitors at all stages of their career. From trainees to directors, we prioritise personal growth and provide a workplace where colleagues can shape their own path.
“Mario’s promotion is well deserved, and we look forward to supporting him as his career and client following continue to grow.”
DAAS announces retirement of CEO after 40 years’ service
A significant milestone has also been marked in the voluntary sector, with Derbyshire Addictions Advice Service (DAAS) announcing the retirement of Chief Executive Elaine Handley after 40 years of service.
Elaine joined the organisation in 1984 as an administrative worker and went on to train as a counsellor. Over the years, she progressed through roles including Team Leader and Service Manager before becoming CEO in 2022.
She played a key role in major service developments, including the implementation of countywide alcohol provision, the co‑development of the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership, and the establishment of the STAND TO veterans’ service.
Elaine will be succeeded by Tracey Croasdale, current Deputy Manager.
Elaine said:
“It has been an honour to work alongside such a committed team. I know Tracey will lead DAAS with the same values and dedication that have shaped our organisation.”
Tracey added:
“Elaine has shaped this organisation in every possible way – through her leadership, compassion and belief in what DAAS stands for.
“It’s an honour to follow in her footsteps, and I’m committed to continuing her legacy of high‑quality, client‑centred support across Derbyshire.”
