Climb into a world of festive fun this Christmas with this year’s Chesterfield Pantomime – Beauty and the Beast. The magical pantomime is the first pantomime at the newly renovated 1435 Theatre and Museum this December, and it’s a wonderful tale your whole family will love.
What to expect
Step into a charming French town where bookish Belle is dreaming of a life filled with adventure.
But when Belle, her friend Jacques and his meddling mother, Betty Bon Bon, stumble upon a mysterious castle, they find themselves caught up in a spellbinding tale like no other.
This year, expect a magical journey packed with laughter, larger-than-life characters and plenty of panto mischief as Beauty and the Beast comes to life on stage.
Award-nominated Dame Matthew Siveter leads the cast as the fabulously flamboyant Betty Bon Bon. Further star casting is still to be announced.
Brought to Chesterfield by the award-winning Little Wolf Entertainment, this ‘beast’ of a pantomime promises breathtaking sets, outrageous costumes, and all the magic and mayhem you’d expect from one of the UK’s leading panto producers. Winners of “Best Pantomime” at last year’s UK Pantomime Awards, their productions have earned critical acclaim and multiple 5-star reviews.
With a brilliant cast, spectacular staging and just the right amount of silliness, this year’s show delivers festive fun for the whole family. Expect cheeky jokes, sing-along songs, and plenty of audience participation – oh yes there is!
Please note that the performance may contain haze, low fog, smoke, flashing lights, loud noises, pyrotechnical charges and effects.

Relaxed
Wed 9th Dec – 1:30pm (Schools, Constituted Community Groups 10+, Care Homes Performance)
Saturday 2nd Jan, 2:00pm
A relaxed performance and is adapted for those with learning disabilities and other sensory and communication needs. Relaxed performances are also a great way to introduce little ones to panto. We make small adjustments to the technical aspects of the show so it is a gentler experience. The volume is slightly lower and some special effects such as strobe lighting are removed. The production may still contain haze, some use of low fog and some lighting effects. To provide a more relaxed and supportive atmosphere, the house lights remain partially lit and the doors to the auditorium remain open. Safe spaces are made available in other areas of the venue for those who may want to take a break from the performance.
