Create your own Spooky and Sweet Ghost decoration in this fun air-dry clay workshop with StraightCurves.
Whether you’re new to pottery or have experience, you’ll learn simple hand-building techniques while crafting a ghost to take home the very same day. A perfect Halloween-y activity for the whole family on Monday 26th October.
What to expect
Discover the joy of working with air-dry clay as you create your own Spooky and Sweet Ghost decoration.
If you’ve never worked with air-dry clay, don’t worry. Artist and pottery tutor Vicky will guide you through each step, so you’ll feel confident from start to finish.
First, you’ll shape a simple clay slab into a ghost. Next, you’ll cut out a face to give your creation its own personality.
Keep your design sweet and simple, or add a Jack-o’-lantern-inspired twist for a spookier look. Your creative style is up to you!
If time allows, you can even make a second, smaller ghost to accompany your main decoration.
The workshop welcomes all abilities. Throughout the session, Vicky will demonstrate each technique and offer support as you build your decoration. As a result, you’ll quickly discover how enjoyable and relaxing hand-building with clay can be.
Once your ghost has dried at home, simply paint it with white acrylic paint to complete your design.
You can also turn your Spooky and Sweet Ghost decoration into a glowing luminary by adding a string of lights or a flickering LED tealight.
Because the workshop uses air-dry clay, you can take your handmade ghost home on the same day. You may also wish to bring a small box to help protect it on your journey home.
