Chesterfield Champions

The Derbyshire Times

The Derbyshire Times is a newspaper rooted in the town of Chesterfield having been in the town for over 150 years. Like many organisations in Chesterfield it too is a leader, being the first weekly English newspaper to introduce the linotype setting machine in 1893.

It has continued to develop and change over the years embracing new technology alongside traditional print to build a successful brand and an influence that stretches far from the town. It is valued by its tens of thousands of readers for its comprehensive local news, information, sport and entertainment.

Group Editor Phil Bramley, who sits on the Destination Chesterfield board, said: “Chesterfield is a special place. It’s a great place to live and work with fabulous attractions and it’s within touching distance of some of the country’s most beautiful countryside.  It’s perfectly located, connected and resourced and not only that, it has vision -vision to be brave and bold. It has a hugely eventful past and a very exciting future.”
