Chatsworth Discovery Days
Take a tour with members of the Chatsworth team and discover some surprising secrets along the way.
All discovery days begin at 9.30am with a packed morning itinerary followed by a delicious two course lunch with wine. You can then explore the house and garden at your leisure in the afternoon; entry to the house and garden is included.
- Chatsworth up close – A fascinating tour of the house where Janet Bitton, Head Housekeeper, and Shenagh Firth, Head Guide, will take you behind the ropes to see key pieces in the collection come to life and reveal their hidden stories. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an exclusive tour of the house before it is open for the day to visitors.
- Garden day – An animated talk from Head of Gardens & Landscape, Steve Porter, exploring areas of the garden that inspired the Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth garden designed by Dan Pearson and won best in show at RHS Chelsea 2015. The day includes a tour of the garden focusing on the Trout stream and Rockery which now incorporate parts of Dan Pearson’s prize winning Chelsea garden.
- Treasures from the Archive and Library – An illustrated talk from Archivist and Librarian, James Towe, covering the family and estate history including key characters such as Georgiana, the 6th Duke and Joseph Paxton. The day includes an exclusive view of some of Chatsworth’s greatest treasures including letters, rare books and illuminated manuscripts; plus enjoy an exclusive tour of the Library not normally open to visitors.
