GDPR for the Construction Industry

Are you GDPR Compliant?

Your organisation must be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into effect on 25th May 2018. This seminar will guide you through the key changes introduced by the Regulation and what practical steps a business in construction should be taking.

Delivered by Digital Growth Programme Consultant, Lee Callender, find out how to successfully prepare your business for the new GDPR. He will demonstrate the key steps your business should be taking to ensure it is both protected and prepared for the new regulations.

This seminar is hosted by the D2N2 Growth Hub and the D2N2 Digital Growth Programme, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council. The seminar is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

The seminar will cover:

  • Keeping a record of data operations and activities
  • Undertaking a data privacy impact assessment (PIA) for systems and projects
  • Discovering if you require a designated data protection officer (DPO)
  • Notifying the supervisory authority of a data breach
  • Reviewing the data processing processes
  • Implementing “privacy by design” and “privacy by default”
  • Handling an enquiry from the Information commissioner should you receive a call or spot check.

Who Should Attend?

This seminar is ideal for individuals within the construction sector who are looking to ensure they are aware of the impact the new GDPR will have on their business and understand the consequences of non-compliance (huge fines up to £20m or 4% of your global turnover whichever figure is larger).
 The event is open to small to medium sized enterprises located in D2N2 (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire).

About The Trainer

Lee Callender is one of the Digital Growth Programme’s consultants and will be delivering a series of ‘Getting Ready for GDPR’ events. He is our resident expert in Customer relationship management and has specialised in email marketing and relationship management for a number of companies. Director of C4 Ventures, Lee has managed over 1,000 campaigns over the past eight years.

This seminar is part-funded via the European Regional Development Fund, therefore we are required to evidence that you are a small to medium enterprise.There will be a couple of forms that will need to be completed either prior to the event or on the day and these will be sent to you once you have registered. One form is to ensure you are a small to medium enterprise, the second is to capture any business support you have received over the last 3 years to ensure you haven’t exceeded €200,000. If you have previously completed these forms at a Growth Hub event you will not have to complete another set.
