The BBC Micro:bit is a pocket sized codeable computer for schools. It is jam packed with motion detection, a built-in compass, LED display and Bluetooth.It is a small but capable board that is simply programmed from a computer. From being introduced to the board, you’ll have your name in lights in no time.
What to expect
This course is designed to introduce the computer novice to the small but capable technologies that are now being introduced into schools.
No previous knowledge is assumed and the simple steps will take you through the basics from plugging everything in, to writing your first piece of code.
In this workshop, you will:
- be introduced to what the MicroBit platform is and how to use it
- learn the fundamentals of programming and computer science (coding)
- dive in to electronics by exploring the built in sensors and output devices of the MicroBit (simple electronics)
A laptop, a MicroBit, any equipment and materials you need will be provided.
