Spireites Trust raise funds for Royal British Legion

Over £1,800 has been raised for the Royal British Legion by Chesterfield FC Community Trust.
The Community Trust last week hosted an afternoon tea in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, which was attended by the Mayor of Chesterfield, Councillor Maureen Davenport, who bought the first poppy.
The event featured a singalong with Debra Porter, who sang a number of War-time classics, together with a World War quiz and a raffle.
This was followed by a bucket collection before Chesterfield’s game against Carlisle United on Saturday. The afternoon tea and the bucket collection raised a combined total of £1,859.50.
The Community Trust’s business development officer, Hayleigh Vasey, was delighted with the success of the afternoon tea. She said: “It was the first such function we have organised and we are hoping to make it an annual event.
“We would like to thank TM Accounting Services, Banner Jones Solicitors, BRM Solicitors and Chesterfield College for their sponsorship during the lead up to the event.
“Our thanks also go to Jez and Simon from S41 Radio for their help in providing the music and PA system for the event and to all those who attended and helped make it an enjoyable afternoon.”
