Abigail Denman – Rosewood Wealth
Name: Abigail Denman
Employer: Rosewood Wealth Management
Apprenticeship: Level 3 Financial Services Administrator
Abigail’s advice: “Make sure that you put all your hard work and determination into the apprenticeship as once you have finished it, you could achieve your dream job. If you aren’t sure about an apprenticeship, just go for it, because in the long term it’s going to benefit you more than you think.”
Before becoming an apprentice, former Bolsover School student Abigail was studying Level 3 Business at Chesterfield College for two years helping her realise that she wanted to follow a career in finance.
While not interested in going to university, Abigail was passionate about developing her skills for a future career and her college tutors encouraged her to follow the apprenticeship route.
The fact that an apprenticeship combined learning with getting paid really appealed to Abigail. She said: “The main thing that appealed to me about an apprenticeship was the fact that you can learn, gain new skills and get paid. It also gives you lots of experience within a specific workplace and that will make you stand out in the future.”
Abigail started her apprenticeship at the end of Lockdown 1 which meant she was able to spend some time in the office. In lockdown 3, Abigail started working from home which hasn’t impacted her development.
She said: “I have managed to stay in touch with my tutor through Google Meets and Zoom meetings. However, if I need to speak to my tutor in between the meetings I can always get in touch via email.”
