Christmas in Chesterfield Entertainment

As part of Christmas in Chesterfield, Chesterfield Borough Council has arranged a variety of different street entertainment for the town centre to keep you entertained whilst you do your Christmas shopping.

Tap Dancing Turkeys –  Thursday 25th November 10.30am – 2.30pm

Bernice and Matthew, unplucked, live and acoustic, tour the land with their feathery combination of tap dance, turkey talk and shopping tips. Wandering entertainment and short static shows from two charismatic birds.

Jacks of Frost – Saturday 4th December 10.30am – 2.30pm

Always up to mischief, our Jacks of Frost are a frosty pair – but only to look at. These shivering siblings on stilts are like massive icicles walking through the streets, talking to passers-by and making a joke or two. For something even more special, the costumes come illuminated for night time events – delight in watching how this twinkly twosome engage the crowds and turn some heads.

Christmas Stilt Walkers – Thursday 16th December 10.30am – 2.30pm

A present, a cracker and a smile! Tinsel and Cracker, the jolly Christmas themed stilt walkers have a big helping of festive fun and are ready to help you get Christmas all wrapped up

Christmas Elves – Saturday 18th December 10.30am – 2.30pm

Meet Elf and Safety. This cheeky pair of stilt walking elves were formerly Santa’s bodyguards. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they have ‘misplaced’ Santa and need you to help them find him. Their ‘elf and safety’ training at the North Pole will also help to ensure that your shopping trip is free from danger. With light up details and a fabulous sense of humour, they are guaranteed to put you in the festive spirit.

A Christmas Carriage –  Sunday 19th December 10.30am – 2.30pm

Mr Scratchit pulls Mr Scrooge into town on their great big carol singing carriage.  The carriage is decorated to within an inch of its life and the music is full of cheer but Scrooge is out to ruin everyone’s fun.  Father Christmas is blown up the chimney and everyone is wished a thoroughly miserable Christmas … ‘Christmas is bah humbug!’ The more he tries to spoil things the more you will laugh.

The Elves Switch –  Monday 20th December 10.30am – 2.30pm

Bread and Butter bring the magic of a Christmas lights switch-on direct to you.
Our oversized dancing elves will give everyone the chance to lead the countdown to the magical moment when a thousand twinkling fairy lights illuminate the snow-tipped Christmas tree. Our roving walkabout is accompanied by a wonderfully nostalgic Christmas soundtrack (think Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble) This is a festive treat for all the family.

Carol Singing Christmas Crackers –  Thursday 23 December 10.30am – 2.30pm

These colourful and festive comedy characters, with their obligatory dodgy cracker jokes, will entertain the whole family. Children will love the idea of crackers coming to life, men will marvel at their golden bells and women will just want to ‘pull’ them! Everyone will want to take part in their ‘name that tune and we will sing it’ Christmas special (even requests for Shakin’ Stevens will be considered!). Non-stop musical entertainment for the festive season, be it light switch-on’s or Christmas shopping events.
