Cyber Security for You and Your Business

computer laptop

Did you know, more than 50% of all reported crime is now cyber and fraud? And that is despite the fact that it’s significantly underreported?

According to a 2023 survey, 32% of small businesses reported a breach or cyber incident in the previous 12 months. Sadly, we are heading towards an era of WHEN … not IF!

Join us for the morning, where we will highlight how you can protect yourself, your information, your accounts and your clients.

If you, either as an individual or an SME, use the internet and email you’ll benefit from joining this workshop to learn more about the risks we all face. Discover not only how you can be targeted by cybercrime and fraud, but also how you can become collateral damage.

The session is non-technical and covers everything from the basics of keeping devices protected through to fraud and scams affecting SMEs – including signposting to a wealth of resources available free of charge to improve your cyber resilience. It is not a technical update for IT – it’s for you, the end-user!

  • Current threats to the small business / self-employed sector with some local examples
  • Protecting your devices and online accounts
  • An overview of the variety of zero cost resources available to you
  • How, where and when to report

The facilitator for this workshop is Samantha HANCOCK from Derbyshire Police Cybercrime Unit. Samantha has worked for the Police for over 20 years, specialised in this growing area of crime since 2016 and is a qualified Crime Prevention and Design Out Crime Adviser.
