Swim Against Loneliness

Queen's Park sports centre 873 466

Volunteers are needed to sign up to take part in a sponsored swim to help in fighting loneliness this summer.

The event called Swim Against Loneliness will be taking place at Queen’s Park Sports Centre from 4th – 9th July 2022 and anyone can take part.

On Saturday 9th July, an event will be held aimed at children who are registered on the sports centre’s Learn to Swim programme.

The sponsored swim is being organised by Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Volunteer Centre and is designed to get as many people swimming as possible to help to tackle loneliness locally.

Each challenge is measured in miles (and therefore lengths of the pool). The various challenges have different names such as Escaping from Alcatraz that is two miles in length, 128 lengths of the pool. Or if you are up for a bigger challenge, you could try the Mount Everest challenge that is the equivalent to 354 lengths.

If you’d like to take part in the ‘Swim Against Loneliness ‘, all you need to do is register here, then download your sponsorship form. There is also more information available on the Swim Against Loneliness website.
