West Studios started out in September 2014, as a creative project of Chesterfield College funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Since then it has developed into a busy creative studio space and gallery, home to 21 local businesses, artists and start-ups within 6 shared studio spaces.
Based in the old boys Grammar School on Sheffield Road, West Studios contains 3 rentable event and meeting spaces for community, creative and business clients. As well as a simple in-house coffee space, handmade shop and gallery open to the public Monday – Friday (10am-4pm) and Saturdays (10am-1pm).
Throughout the year, West Studios has developed busy Christmas and summer market events, as well as Tenant Open Studios, which gives the public an insight into how work is made within the studios. The team and tenants have created a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere within the beautiful school, which keeps pulling back customers and clients.
Hannah Bowdler, Coordinator at West Studios , says:-
“West Studios was originally set up for Chesterfield start-up businesses to receive business development help and support to grow. Over the past 3 years we have worked with a number of businesses and individuals through various programs and have been able to connect people together enabling working partnerships to develop.
“My aim is to continue to build a used, inspiring space, which can benefit both Chesterfield and Chesterfield College students, through creative events and opening communications between the two. There is a wealth of possibility and development that will come from bringing the two together.”
