The refurbishment of Barrow Hill Memorial Hall will create a modern community hub for the area.

Once complete, the venue will provide access to support services, and space for residents to socialise together.

The project, led by Barrow Hill Community Trust is expected to create 15 new full-time jobs. Funded by the Staveley Town Deal and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the refurbishment will give the building a new lease of life for the next generation.

The Trust’s aims are as follows:

• Raise awareness of the Barrow Hill Memorial Hall and encourage more people to get involved.
• Repair and maintain the Memorial Hall through a phased development programme.
• Provide a range of different spaces for activities and events to happen.
• Make the Memorial Hall viable through room hire and activities and by growing links with businesses.
