Chesterfield Great Outdoors- Chesterfield Borough Council
A selection of events taking place this January, organised by Chesterfield Borough Council as part of the Year of Outdoors Try Something New in 2022. You will need to book your place to attend these events:
Forest Bathing – Friday 21st January
Tapton Park
Session one: 10 – 11.30am
Session two: 12 – 1.30pm
Join us for an exploration of Tapton Park and experience the healing powers of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing), with a little barefoot sensory experience included. This traditional Japanese practice is gentle, meditative and restorative. Come along and let the trees give you a hug!
Wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear. Bring a backpack,
small foot towel and maybe a hot drink.
Please note – there are no toilets in the park.
Meet Donna and Natalie in the Peace Gardens car park at Tapton Park
Places are free but limited. To book a place email wendy.blunt@chesterfield.gov.uk or call 01246 959657.
Felt Feet – Friday 28th January
Poolsbrook Country Park
During this session you will take part in the ancient art of felt making. After wrapping raw wool around your feet you will squelch your way to a perfectly fitting bespoke pair of slippers!
Booking and working in pairs is advantageous, but not essential as we will be on hand to help. Walking boots or footwear that you can tie are essential.
The session includes a 40 minute walk to create the friction needed to produce strong felt. If mobility is an issue, please get in touch and we will find a new way!
Meet Donna and Natalie at the Pavilion in Poolsbrook Country Park.
Places free but limited, to book contact Wendy Blunt on email wendy.blunt@chesterfield.gov.uk or call 01246 95965
