Savills Expands Top-End Market within central London with the acquisition of Chesterfield

Savills is delighted to announce the further expansion of its top end residential business in central London through the acquisition of Chesterfield, which will now become Savills Knightsbridge office.
Chesterfield is to be re-branded as Savills in the New Year, which has been run by Brian D’Arcy Clark and David Forbes for over twenty years. In that time, the business has increasingly concentrated in prime central London establishing itself as one of the leading agencies offering sales, rental and professional services.
The prime central London market has consistently out performed all other residential markets according to extensive Savills research and will continue to do so. Chesterfield has achieved £400 million in sales and acquisitions this year. This includes their involvement with 10% of the properties in prime central London over £5 million. Whilst Savills have dealt with 46% of properties in prime central London, jointly this equates to a staggering 56% of the market in this price range.
Jonathan Hewlett head of Savills London region, based in the Sloane Street office commented: “This acquisition will considerably strengthen our presence within the heart of prime central London. Brian and David will have managerial responsibility of the Prime Central London Agency to include the four offices Sloane Street, Knightsbridge, Kensington and Hampstead and will be driving the strategy for these offices to work together on forging our position in the market place.
I am really pleased to have this team as part of the London Region and I am thoroughly looking forward to working with them to take Savills prime central London to a new level.”
The Chesterfield team have a strong track record with notable sales and a strong reputation within The Phillimore Estate, Egerton Crescent, Egerton Terrace, Thurloe Square and South Eaton Place, to name a few prime streets. They most recently broke the £2000 pounds per square foot barrier in Edwards Square with a house guided at £17.5million. Their rentals department has tripled its turnover in the last 5 years.
David Forbes said: “Having worked in the market place for well over twenty years building up the contacts and goodwill that we have, it will be a real pleasure to offer those same clients the degree of professionalism that they have come to expect, with the added bonus of the broader marketing presence of the Savills organisation.”
Brian D’Arcy Clark added: “The central London market is increasingly being driven by profits and bonuses generated in the City, along with of course, the influx of money from abroad. To become part of an international marketing organization was the obvious next step for us and who better than Savills with their global network of over 140 offices and associates world-wide."
