Dronfield Arts Festival
Due to the Coronrvirus outbreak, the event has been postponed until 15th & 16th August to coincide with VJ Day
2020 is an exciting year for Dronfield Arts Festival as they are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). Celebrations will include many performances, activities and workshops with a 1940’s theme.
Celebrations will include many performances, activities and workshops with a 1940’s theme. The festival brings intriguing and spectacular arts experiences to Derbyshire. With over 60 events offering a fantastic mix of some of the best regional and national arts including: music, drama, poetry, visual art, dance, crafts, food, talks, literature and much more. The festival is designed to appeal to all ages and tastes; to local residents and to visitors to our vibrant town.
The festival features national performers, local celebrities, professionals, well-established names, as well as, those starting out in their careers. This is a unique celebration of the arts utilising some of Dronfield’s best places and spaces delivered in partnership with several venues in the town.
The popular Open Arts Exhibition is also taking place in the Dronfield Hall Barn Gallery and there will be a 1940s memorabilia exhibition on display in the Peel Centre.
A festival market will also run throughout the weekend with local producers, artisan and vintage stalls selling unique, handmade and quality wares.
VE Day – 75th Anniversary
The festival is registered as an official VE Day venue and will include the official itinerary of events taking place throughout the weekend, beginning with the Last Post and ending with a church service and reading of the Tribute to the Millions.
A percentage of proceeds taken over the weekend will be donated to SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity, that provides lifelong support and advice to servicemen, veterans and their families.
