Jacqueline Currell exhibition at Chesterfield College
Chesterfield based sculptor and print maker, Jacqueline Currell will hold an exhibition of her work in The Dome in Chesterfield College from 26th January – 28th February. Proceeds from the sale of her work will raise money for Ashgate Hospice and Motor Neurone Disease.
The artist was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and this exhibition has been described as a celebration of her career, creativity and productivity.
Although foremost a sculptor, Jaqueline has become a prolific printmaker using linocut to visualise and explore her imagery. Animals and animal-like formations are a recurrent theme. The motifs themselves have become a vehicle to express underlying themes of opposing forces, light and dark, good and evil, evoking an emotive response.
Jacqueline has been a resident artist in Chesterfield since 1980. She taught art at Chesterfield College for 18 years, after training at Bournemouth College of Art where she was awarded the Rome Scholarship and teaching for some time at Plymouth Art School. She has exhibited extensively throughout her career.
