Superior Wellness products achieve impressive sustainability standard

Chesterfield hot tub manufacturer, Superior Wellness has revealed its new range of products has received an impressive sustainability certification.

The firm’s Platinum Spas Deluxe hot tubs, which were launched in Janaury, have been CEC tested, showing the company’s commitment to being more energy efficient.

The CEC – or California Energy Commission is the only third-party accreditation organisation recognised by the spa and hot tub industry.

With five models in the range all now boasting premium features and upgrades – introducing the Tahiti, Refresh, Happy, Palma and the brand new all seater Seville.

Gareth Ward, Sales Director said: “We are delighted that the new range is CEC certified. The Deluxe range now includes the award-winning energy efficient insulation Platinum Premium Shield. This is designed by the Superior Heatlock Insulation Process which provides a considerable difference in the heat retained in the hot tub as well as a reduction in energy costs.

“With a focus on innovation, the latest technology and an abundance of features, the new range includes a number of improvements.”

The hot tub cover is now fabric instead of vinyl. The overall thickness of the cover has been increased providing greater insulation and creating energy savings. The circulation pump has also been upgraded to a much quieter and more energy efficient version, which again shows the company’s commitment to improving the overall efficiency for customers.

Gareth Ward added: “We are very excited about the launch of the new Deluxe range. We always listen to feedback from our customers and partner network to help inform our decisions on innovation.”

Chesterfield Borough Council recently approved it’s new Climate Strategy for the town, which reaffirms its ambitions to become a net-zero borough by 2050. The new strategy will direct how the council works with industry in the future, ensuring sustainability and climate change a central theme of everything it does.

2023 Made in Chesterfield festival inspires girls to consider careers in engineering and manufacturing

Girls have been inspired to consider a career in engineering and manufacturing thanks to this year’s Made in Chesterfield festival, co-ordinated by Destination Chesterfield and Direct Education Business Partnership (DEBP).

Maddy, a Year 9 pupil from Whittington Green School who visited performance vehicle specialist Scooby Clinic in Wingerworth, said: “I would definitely consider a future career in STEM. There’s a stigma about STEM being just for boys but actually more women should give it a go; they can do it. It’s not just for boys.”

Maddy was one of more than 150 male and female students from secondary schools throughout Chesterfield that took part in workplace visits to companies operating in the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) sector during the four-week festival.

The visits, which were organised by Direct Education Business Partnership, were designed to introduce secondary school students to the varied STEM careers available in the local economy.

Sonya Martin, Out of School Tuition Tutor at Whittington Green Secondary School, praised the campaign, saying: “We’ve had quite a few female students say they didn’t realise engineering was open to them and that, actually, the work would be a lot of fun. Having the chance to bring them around different workplaces, especially Scooby Clinic, has been really good for them because we very rarely get to know what goes on in our local environment.”

Scooby Clinic was one of a number of businesses that welcomed students into the workplace during the festival. MSE Hiller, Weightron Bilanciai, United Cast Bar, Superior Wellness, Atlantic Pumps, Robinson PLC and Aztec Oils also opened their doors to students.

Aztec Oils, which is based in Bolsover and is one of the UK’s leading specialists in high-performance lubricant manufacture and distribution, welcomed students from Springwell Community College.

During the visit Year 9 pupil Lara commented; “Being here today has made me reconsider my GCSE options. It’s shown me that STEM is more than science and there are lots of jobs and so many opportunities out there.”

Julie Richards, Principal of The Chesterfield College Group, explained: “It is so positive to see the impact of raising aspirations in STEM subjects with girls across the region thanks to initiatives like Made in Chesterfield. This is the latest in a long line of positive actions to breakdown any perceived barriers for young women who enter a career in STEM. Year on year we are delighted to see more and more young, driven women studying programmes and apprenticeships at Chesterfield College in STEM industries. These students consistently inform us that when talking to school age girls about getting into a STEM related career they should ‘just go for it!’ Whilst they admitted they felt daunted when first entering the industry, that apprehension quickly subsided when they realised how supported and valued they were by their classmates or work colleagues.”

According to a report by The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Diversity and Inclusion in STEM, only 27% of the UK’s STEM workforce is female compared to 52% of the wider workforce.

Made in Chesterfield, which is sponsored by the Chesterfield College Group, is now in its eighth year. The annual festival is playing a key role in addressing the technical skills shortage amongst local businesses.

Research by the UK Commission for Employment & Skills found that 43 per cent of national STEM vacancies are hard to fill due to a shortage of skilled and experienced applicants.

Ivan Fomin Destination Chesterfield board member responsible for manufacturing and engineering in the Borough said: “I am delighted at the impact the Made in Chesterfield festival has made with students, schools and businesses this year. Seeing so many mixed groups of students undertaking visits to STEM workplaces in Chesterfield is incredibly encouraging. Ensuring that our workplaces are diverse is critical to tackling skills shortages in the sector both locally and nationally.”

Clare Talati, Chief Executive of DEBP added: “DEBP are delighted to work in partnership on the initiative; at a time with increased pressures for schools and employers, the feedback demonstrates just how important workplace visits are in enabling young people to understand more about the amazing opportunities available locally.”

Since its 2014 launch, Made in Chesterfield has introduced over 3,500 young people to the jobs and careers available operating in the STEM sector within local businesses.

Chesterfield hot tub manufacturer launches new ‘AquaSolus’ range

Chesterfield’s Superior Wellness has announced the launch of AquaSolus, the brand-new range of luxury hot tubs hitting the market.

The new AquaSolus product range offers six new hot tubs. The range encompasses various well sculptured models, from all seater models to models with one lounger.

Following the soft launch at Spatex earlier this year, the company officially launched this new range at The PSP Expo in Vegas and The Piscina and Wellness Show in Lyon in November. Superior Wellness is confident that this new product range will offer customers across the globe an improved choice and an exceptional hydrotherapy experience.

The new AquaSolus range from Superior Wellness has been designed to improve wellness. AquaSolus meaning ‘health through water’ in Latin is the essence of what customers will experience with this range. The hot tubs have been carefully designed with wellness and hydrotherapy at the forefront.

Superior Wellness is proud to partner with industry leading suppliers to bring customers the highest quality hot tubs with the best hydrotherapy experience. All AquaSolus hot tubs are built around an impressive tubular stainless-steel framework, due to its robustness we are proud to give a lifetime warranty on its integrity.

In a world of increasing energy costs, it’s vitally important to put energy efficient insulation at the forefront when designing a new hot tub and the AquaSolus range is no exception.

Utilising a tried and tested Heatlock Insulation Process, where the exterior of the spas is insulated in the same way we insulate our homes, creating an inner heat shield. Using this method, the heat is reflected back inwards, and is then used to help maintain the temperature of the spa through heat transfer via the vast amount of plumbing; this assists with the overall running costs.

Graham Message, Superior Wellness Business Development Manager said “Our new AquaSolus range sees Superior Wellness venture into the high end, high specification hot tub marketplace for the first time.

“Aimed for the more discerning customer who requires more than just fun from their hot tub, AquaSolus was designed to capitalise on hydrotherapy, water management and energy efficiency. No short cuts were taken when we designed this range as we wanted the latest technology and only the best industry components to match the vision. We had to make the AquaSolus range the best we could and I’m pleased to say we have achieved the brief we set ourselves.”

Platinum Spas uses latest technology for ‘augmented reality’ hot tub experience

Chesterfield-based Platinum Spas, part of Superior Wellness has announced its latest venture into a 3D AR (Augmented Reality) hot tub experience.

This latest feature will enable customers to not only be able to have a 360 view of the Premium range Tokyo hot tub but also view the hot tub in their own space and the process is really simple. This will allow people to make an informed decision on whether the hot tub is the right choice for them.

Superior Wellness team completes Yorkshire three peaks challenge

The team at Chesterfield’s Superior Wellness has recently conquered the grueling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Fibromyalgia Action UK.

On 28 August, a team of 22 from the world’s fastest growing hot tub manufacturer took part in the 24-mile challenge climbing Yorkshire’s highest peaks.

The team have currently raised £790 and there is still time to donate. The money raised will go directly to their national charity partner Fibromyalgia Action UK, who are fighting for freedom from Fibromyalgia – to raise awareness and much needed funds.

Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes persistent pain all over the body.  As well as widespread pain, other symptoms will include but are not limited to fatigue and non-refreshing sleep, and brain or fibro fog.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Superior Wellness team showed true family spirit, dedication and commitment.  Some team members completed the course in a record time as an organised event this year, in 8 hours and 15 minutes, which was an incredible achievement.

Rob Carlin, Managing Director at Superior Wellness said: “I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part; helping each other along the way as well as conquering fears and challenges. It was very challenging mentally and physically.

“We are overwhelmed with the generosity of donations to raise much needed funds for our national charity Fibromyalgia Action UK. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far; it is not too late to donate via our Just Giving link.

“We hope to raise awareness of the condition through the partnership, particularly amongst young people, as many may not even know what it is.”

Des Quinn, Chair of Fibromyalgia Action UK said: “We really appreciate the effort, conviction, and time donated by the team at Superior Wellness. I would like to thank them for their efforts. It is tremendous what they are doing, we really appreciate the funds you have raised and the awareness of fibromyalgia too.”

Since the partnership began in 2021 the Superior Wellness team have raised over £5,000 in a series of charity events to raise funds for Fibromyalgia Action UK.

Superior Wellness listed as one of Britain’s Fastest-Growing Businesses

Superior Wellness leads the market as the world’s fastest growing hot tub manufacturer, creating premium, high quality products focused on improving your health and well-being.

On 22 June 2022, the FEBE Annual Growth 100 list was released highlighting the fastest-growing privately owned businesses in the country.

It now works with a global partner network of over 200 hot tub retailers across 16 countries. In 2021 alone, 72 partners were onboarded to the Superior Wellness network and 32 of these were international accounts.

Superior Wellness is now focusing on its growth across the United States of America having recruited two dedicated sales managers based in America.

FEBE reports that: “There are 4.2m private companies in the UK. Just 1% or 45,000 of these are considered ‘high growth’ and Superior Wellness is now included in the Growth 100 list.”

Rob Carlin, Managing Director, said: “We were so proud when we heard the news that Superior Wellness had made it onto Growth 100 list. We ranked 18th in Britain for the fastest-growing companies privately owned businesses.

“This is such an incredible achievement for us as a company and a real accolade to the team and their hard work.

“I would like to extend my thanks to all the Superior Wellness team and our partner network for making this possible.”

Chesterfield’s Superior Wellness supports Mental Health Awareness Week

Chesterfield-based Superior Wellness has announced it is supporting the national Mental Health Awareness Week by helping to share the campaign and raise awareness.

The week, which is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, is in its 22nd year and runs from 9-15 May.

This year, the theme for the week is ‘Loneliness’. Across the country, people will be reflecting on loneliness and how it impacts our mental health. Long-term loneliness is closely linked to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety.

Carol Claydon, Head of HR at Superior Wellness said: “We not only focus on physical health but mental health too.  I am a trained mental health champion and team members can speak to me any time.  Our culture is like one big family and we all support each other as one team.  We are also all based in the office and not at home which will help with those who may have struggled during the pandemic with loneliness.

“We do a huge amount at Superior Wellness as a team including a weekly team building activity, fitness classes and celebrating birthdays.  We even have a games room with pool tables and table tennis which team members use at lunch time or after work. We are very supportive as a team and ensure our work environment is a positive and happy place to be.”

Mark Rowland Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation said:

“We hope this year’s theme of loneliness will strike a chord with many of us who felt lonely and struggled throughout the Covid pandemic.

“Millions of us experience loneliness from time to time. We know that some people are at higher risk of experiencing loneliness and the evidence shows the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems.

“Loneliness deserves more attention and we’re calling on everyone who has struggled as a result of being lonely to share their experiences. We must work together – as individuals, as a society and through government policy – to reduce loneliness and prevent mental health problems by investing in welcoming, social spaces and new community initiatives.”

Some of the ways people can participate in Mental Health Awareness Week:

  • During Mental Health Awareness Week use the hashtag #IveBeenThere to share experiences of loneliness to support others and give the campaign momentum.
  • Sign up to walk, run or job as part of our 80 Miles in May challenge and share your photos using #80MilesinMay and #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.
